The Rescue Mission Of Middle Georgia

At its core, the Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia is a long-term life recovery program for individuals experiencing addiction and domestic violence. Serving the Middle Georgia area for 69 years, the Mission has been a beacon of hope through Jesus Christ for thousands of people who have passed through its doors.  We offer long-term, residential life recovery for men, women, and children seeking true life change. Last year the Mission provided 26,823 nights of refuge and shelter and served 106,528 meals to the hungry and homeless of Middle Georgia.

In 2019, God provided an amazing opportunity, and we purchased the property at 6601 Zebulon Road to expand our services. God has given us 210 acres of land, which provides a tranquil home for those in our program to recover.  The land is absolutely beautiful, and you can feel God’s presence here. This property is a place that provides safety and healing for those that want to join a community in recovery by way of Jesus Christ!

Our Men’s Division has six homes that allow us to serve up to 180 men.  We can now provide additional transitional housing for those graduating as well. Our Women’s Division more than tripled in capacity for domestic violence victims seeking long-term services and those struggling with substance abuse.  We can now serve 50 women and children at our new location.

God has enabled the Mission to expand its programs from serving 50 men, women, and children in a 2-story downtown building, to serving more than 180 men, women, and children at our new campus. The average length of our program is 12-15 months with transitional housing being offered to all graduates. The work of the Mission is vital for our community, and we give God all the glory.

Vision:
To strengthen and expand our programs to meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of all who are hurting in our society. Through sharing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and being an example of God’s love and compassion, we will be a catalyst for inconceivable life change.

Mission:

Providing a Path of Hope, Redemption, and Empowerment through Jesus Christ.

Macon Volunteer Clinic

Macon Volunteer Clinic (MVC) provides free primary medical and dental care, as well as medication assistance, to low income, working, uninsured adults of Bibb and Twiggs counties. In Bibb County, 20% of adults are uninsured, 22% in Twiggs,

compared to 12% nationally (DPH NCHD County Health Assessment).

Lack of health insurance is the single greatest impediment to access to healthcare in the U.S.  Uninsured are less likely to receive medical care, more likely to die early, and more likely to have poor health status.  That’s why safety net clinics like MVC are critical.  We provide preventive care and manage chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension to prevent catastrophic problems.  Many of our patients are service industry employees who work at restaurants, dry cleaners, daycares, and hotels. They sit with elderly individuals, clean houses, and take care of children. They are the faces of the working uninsured in Bibb County.

Macon Volunteer Clinic, now in its 20th year of continuous service, is philanthropy funded and volunteer powered.  Our healthcare is at no cost to qualified patients.   Services include primary care, dental care, eye exams, cancer screenings, prescription medications, gynecology, neurology, dermatology, orthopedics, acupuncture, labs, x-rays and other diagnostics, nutrition counseling and mental health counseling.

In 2022, 130 unique volunteers gave 4,692 hours to deliver heartfelt care.  This represented 7,601 patient encounters, 498 cancer screenings, and 284 dental services.  The dollar value of our pro bono care represented $1,495,097 in 2022!

Macon Volunteer Clinic appreciates each and every participant in the Five Star Celebrity Classic! Please drop by and visit when you can – we like nothing better than showing our supporters the great work they are doing through Macon Volunteer Clinic.
